How it Works

Never worked with a designer before?

Don’t worry, I have a clear design process that I’ve tweaked and improved along the way that guarantees the best results and ensures my clients are always happy and informed.

Designing a website requires collaboration so it’s important you provide input in every step so I can build a site you’re happy with!

  • The best place to start is to book in your free 30 minute ‘Hello Chat’. This discovery call is the perfect chance for us to meet, for me to get an idea of your company, who you are and what you’d like your website to achieve.

You can ask me any questions about my pricing, process, experience etc during this time.

After our call, I’ll send you a Welcome Kit with the brief, proposed schedule and all the information you will need to know. Once signed, you’ll receive an invoice for an upfront deposit (50% of the overall fee) which ensures we are both on a level playing field.

Once this has been paid, we can get your website project booked in and get started.

  • You’ll then receive a request to fill out a design questionnaire that asks about your business, competitors, design preferences and website goals. This gives me a great foundation to start with and ensures I have a clear idea of what you need and are expecting. This will guide the project and will give me something to refer back to, ensuring I am always on track.

If there’s anything I’m unsure about or need further clarification on, I’ll make sure to do this at this stage so I don’t steer off track later on.

I’ll also request all content for your website, such as text, images, fonts, brand colours, logo, and social channel URLs. If you haven’t got text prepared at this point, I can design and build the site using dummy text, advising on what information is relevant on each page. This will help you to write the text once you know what is required.

  • Using your questionnaire answers, I’ll get to work designing:

    • the wireframes of your full site. Wireframes show the content and overall structure of each page but don’t display any design. This helps us to ensure that we include all of the relevant information that your users will be expecting and will need.

    • the design look & feel of your new homepage. I follow a ‘one-concept method‘ which allows me to lead the creative direction of the project, focus on the strategy of that concept and let’s me go deeper into the design.

Please note: I only create an initial design of the homepage so it gives the idea of the overall look & feel. The rest of the pages will follow this style of design.

You’ll have a chance to feedback on the design to get it just right. If you’re not 100% happy, that’s absolutely fine, we’ll discuss your points and ensure I know what you’re looking for moving forward. I’m always open to feedback and improvements!

  • Once you’re happy with the initial designed homepage, I will start building the full site on the agreed platform (Squarespace, Shopify etc).

I will create a new account on the platform to avoid any delays in getting this stage started.

I will build the site under a holding page so that it is hidden from any traffic.

The timeframe for this stage depends on the size of your website and your specific requirements. This will be included in your Welcome Kit Schedule. I will always keep you updated if I come across any problems during build.

  • Once the first draft of the site is built, I’ll invite you to view it and will share any commentary to explain my thinking behind the design.

This is the time when we will have our first 30min mid-project video call to go through everything.

I’ll ask you to comment any feedback using a collaborative program called Figma so I can keep track of all feedback in one place.

After making the first round of changes, I’ll present you with the updated site and ask for further feedback for the second round of changes. I’ll also work on your on-page SEO at this point, and connect your preferred methods of analytics.

We’ll stay in touch throughout the design process so you are happy and confident with the design journey.

  • Once you're happy with the final design of your website, and I’ve taken in all of your feedback, testing that everything works as well as it should and completed all of your on-page SEO, I’ll request your final written sign-off.

You will have received your final invoice (50% of the total cost) in advance so it it due to be paid by your agreed launch date.

Once it has been paid, I’ll connect your domain to the website, transfer full ownership to you and publish your site!

All you have to do now is show off your new Shiny Happy website with your audience and do a happy dance!

    Whooop!

  • Now you have your beautiful new website, you may need to add new pages or update content as you go.

I’ll share with you a Handover PDF detailing some of the key things you may need to know about how to update your site, so you can feel confident moving forward.

I also offer a Support Package, so if you’d rather not update your site yourself, I can do it for you.

Over the next 30 days from your launch, I'll also be here to fix any bugs that occur (all normal with new website launches).
